Celebrate Pride Month in Islington on a guided Queer Ecology Walk through Gillespie Park! On Tuesday 23rd June join with forum+ for a gentle guided nature walk led by ecologist Connor Butler. As we wander through Islington’s largest nature reserve we’ll explore the diverse and unusual lifecycles found in commonly encountered plants and animals right on our doorstep. See nature from a new perspective and learn fascinating facts about queer ecology.

Connor the Ecologist is an entomologist and educator with a decade of experience connecting people with the natural world. To date, Connor has encouraged over 10,000 people to take time to appreciate the smallest details in nature and to show love for the often-unloved species on our planet. His recent work focuses on “Queer Ecology“, which challenges perceptions of what is considered natural or unnatural and aims to break down the barriers that minority groups face when interacting with nature.
Gillespie Park is Islington’s largest nature reserve and home to Islington Ecology Centre – a visitor and education centre. Our walk will set off from the Ecology Centre where we’ll first have the opportunity to connect and enjoy tea and biscuits. The park is home to diverse wildlife, woodland, pond and meadow areas. We’ll be walking through the park, with some light sweep netting of bushes and vegetation in search of invertebrates. Everything will be released at the end of the session.
