Camden and Islington LGBT History Month 2023 is almost here and forum+ can’t wait to share a fantastic programme celebrating local LGBTQ+ culture, heritage and history.
This year’s programme features over 30 events with a great diversity of subjects and voices represented. Special highlights include the LGBTQ+ Film Day at The British Museum on Saturday 25th February, Loudest Whispers Art Exhibition at St Pancras Hospital and guided LGBTQ+ walks in Camden and Islington.
From 1st – 28th February enjoy a broad range of events including craft workshops, discussions, exhibitions, poetry, plays, performances, commemorations of local LGBTQ figures, talks and much more!
The theme for LGBT History Month 2023 is Behind The Lens (https://lgbtplushistorymonth.co.uk/ ) The theme references art in the national curriculum and is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of the work and lives of the forgotten or seldom seen LGBTQ+ people behind the stage, cinema and TV cameras – directors, screen writers, designers, technician, costume, make-up artists and more!
The current cost of living crisis, economic uncertainty and anxieties around energy costs mean that this is worrying time for many. forum+ is proud to have curated a programme that gives free access to local LGBTQ+ activities and events which promote wellbeing, reduce loneliness and celebrate our culture. LGBT History Month is not only a special community celebration of our past but also an opportunity to educate, raise awareness and champion inclusion and equality for LGBTQ people.
The Camden & Islington LGBT History Month 2023 programme will be released online on Monday 23rd January. The programme is fully interactive with clickable links and will be available to read online and at LGBT venues, local libraries, community spaces and community centres across Camden & Islington throughout February.
