One of the UK’s most colourful art exhibitions, ‘Loudest Whispers’, returns for the 11th year running on Friday 7 February, 5.30pm-8.30pm. The theme of this year’s exhibition, hosted by Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust at St Pancras Hospital, is entitled ‘A Midwinter Night’s Dream’.
The Mayor of Camden and the Deputy Mayor of Islington will be VIP guests at the event, which is part of the nationwide LGBT+ History Month. The Loudest Whispers exhibition has exploded in popularity since its launch 11 years ago, and is now a firm fixture on the north London arts calendar, attracting huge crowds from across the country.
The evening, which is organised by The Arts Project and supported by Forum+, will feature music, comedy and the arts inspired by the theme of ‘Poetry, Prose and Plays’ and entertainment from award winning performer of cabaret and comedy, Xnthony and Mark T Cox, and up and coming poet, Keith Jarrett.
It is a chance for LGBT+ artists – both established and amateur – to showcase their work. The Mayors of Camden and Islington will officially open the event at 7pm before a cabaret performance in the main conference centre.
Hosting the event each year is testament to the Trust’s firmly-embedded support for the Camden and Islington LGBT+ Forum and the wider LGBT+ community.
Peter Herbert, Curator Manager of The Arts Project, said: “Our artists range from those in their teens to people aged 80+, with the multi-ethnic cultural diversity of our LGBT+ community reflected in the exhibition. We’re very excited to be showcasing some fantastic pieces of art for the 11th year running.”
Peter added: “The launch night on Friday 7 February will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate how much Loudest Whispers has achieved over the past 11 years and a chance to highlight 2020’s LGBT+ History Month. Everyone is welcome and the exhibition is not one to be missed!”
